Toledo Naturalists' Association (TNA) events for October. Please join us!

-----------------
Looking for Sparrows - field trip

Late September and early October feature a good variety of sparrows, some residents, some newly arrived from the north. We will search for as many as we can find, in addition to other fall migrants. Prepare for some wet feet (from dew or standing water). Leader Tom Kemp will do his best to help the group find these “little brown birds.”

Date & time: Saturday, October 6, 2018, 8:00-10:00 a.m.
Location: Krause & Stange Roads, on west side of Ottawa NWR

History of the Toledo Christmas Bird Count - monthly program

Join us as Matt Anderson talks about the long and colorful history of the Toledo Christmas Bird Count (CBC). The count started in 1927 and is arguably the premier CBC among Ohio’s sixty plus counts. Lou Campbell was the Toledo compiler for an amazing run of sixty years and handed the reigns to Matt in 1992. In ten out of the last eleven years, Toledo has led the state in the number of species found. Toledo also holds the two highest-ever counts in the state…by a wide margin. Interesting and surprising trends and statistics will be highlighted, sprinkled with some neat history and humorous anecdotes.

Date & time: Thursday, October 18, 2018, 7:00 p.m.
Location: Ward Pavilion at Wildwood Metropark, Toledo

Raptors and Brunch - field trip

Raptors migrating south are the attraction, possible Golden Eagles are the goal. Bring your lawn chair and hope for clouds. Bring a food item to share; it doesn’t have to be fancy. Camp stoves and tables will be available. Meet leader Todd Haggard at Perrysburg City Boat Launch.

Date & time: October 28, 2018, 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.
Location: Maple Street Boat Launch, Perrysburg

Directions: Four blocks (.4 miles) NE of downtown Perrysburg along the river on E. Front St. (Rt. 65), turn toward the river on Maple St. and drive downhill.
