Astronomy II: Fall Favorites

The last star gazing trip of the year will feature a sky with plenty to look at. The Andromeda Galaxy, twice the size of our Milky Way, will take center stage at the fall viewing. The Andromeda Galaxy can be seen with the naked eye, but a telescope is needed to see it's true beauty. In addition to the Andromeda Galaxy, other notable sights will be available such as several globular star clusters as well as the Double Star Cluster in Perseus. Meet leader John Starr at Beaver Creek Preserve at 7pm. He will be set up in the area closest to the road going by the park. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. Be sure to dress appropriately as night time temps will drop.

Directions to Beaver Creek Preserve: From S. River Road/Rt 295 head over the Maumee River to Grand Rapids and turn left on Front Street. Go about 1/4 mile down to Route 204 and turn right (south). Take 204 south about a mile to where it deadheads into Long Judson Road. Turn left on Long Judson Road and take this road about 1/4 mile - the entrance is on the left but is not particularly well marked so you must be alert.
