"Planet Nine" at the UT Planetarium
Join TNA member John Starr at the Ritter
Planetarium for the program "Planet Nine" on UT's campus to explore
the outer edges of our solar system. This roughly hour long program will allow
participants to see results from the historic New Horizon's encounter with
Pluto, discover the icy inhabitants of the Kuiper Belt, and learn why
astronomers think there might be a giant undiscovered planet lurking beyond the
orbit of Pluto.
The Ritter PlanetariumWhen : Fri. February 17, 2017 7pm-8:30 pm
is located in McMaster Hall on UT's main campus. Admission is $7 for adults and
$5 for children, seniors, and UT community members (children 3 and under are
FREE). Attendees are recommended to arrive at 7pm, a half hour before the show,
to grab the good seats.

Winter Tree Identification
How do you tell what kind of tree it is when
there aren't even any leaves on it? Join the Wizard of Woodlawn, Tim Haney, to
find out. He'll show us some of the wide variety of native trees at the
Historic Woodlawn cemetery and show us to how to identify them any time of
year. Meet Tim just inside the front entrance at Central & Auburn Avenues

Exploration in the Peruvian Andes

In 2008, Mike Harvey was part of a team of ornithologists
exploring the remote Cerros de Sirarange in central Peru.
The expedition was physically and logistically demanding. And one day,
on a ridge of a montane cloud forest, the team stumbled on a
striking bird that wasn’t in the field guides. Join TNA and Dr. Harvey for this story of exploration and
Woodpecker Hunt at Secor Metropark
Woodpeckers are fascinating creatures. We are
fortunate to have 7 different species of woodpecker right here in Northwest
Ohio. Secor Metropark is as good a place as any to locate them. Though it may
be difficult, we’ll try for the clean sweep of all 7 regularly occurring
woodpeckers. Meet leader Brandon Brywczynski at the Secor Park Nature Center at
9am to join in the fun.
