It's always good when a field trip comes off as advertised. The winter gulls and ducks field trip found good numbers of both. Thanks to Todd, we had some last minute access to the water treatment plant and that's where we found most of our twelve species of waterfowl (nothing rare). Large numbers of gulls were congregating on the river between Waterville and Grand Rapids; many were riding the ice floes down the river. All 6 expected species were seen including 22 Lesser Black-backs at Grand Rapids and lovely adult Glaucous and Iceland gulls (a life bird for Cari and Gillian) at our last stop, Otsego Rapids.
