I was at Cricket Frog Cove this afternoon and I found one singing male Dickcissel. He was singing from the brushy orchard-like area of the park, but near the parking lot. i heard him from my car as I was leaving at about 2:30 pm today (Sunday) and saw him from the parking lot. He stayed in that area until I was finished looking at him. Unfortunately, I only saw/heard one individual.
Also, there are many (at least 6) male Bobolinks on territory (singing that crazy song!) in the Wildlife Production Area on Weston Rd. in southern Wood County, between Jerry City and Cygnet Rds. I saw at least 6 males, plus several females this afternoon. This is just north of the area where the southern Wood County Snowy Owls were seen this past winter, for reference. They are very easy to see, and this is the second time I have been out there this season, and seen the same density of Bobolinks each time.
