Here are a couple shots of the California Gull adult that was at Lorain Saturday 1/21.  Fieldmarks are the dark eye, long straight bill with the red and black spots, darker gray mantle, and streaking mainly on the nape. 

Here is a shot of the wings.  The California Gull is in the foreground.  The black wingtips are sometimes described as being dipped in ink.  This is pretty evident.
